In a 654 tractor, a problem occurred due to a leak in the diesel tank sediment cup. As a result, diesel oil seeped from the clutch housing onto the clutch friction plate, causing the clutch to slip when under load. Normally, if you wanted to clean this up, it would take two or three days. However, during the busy spring plowing season, time was not on our side, so we had to find a quick solution. Instead of following the usual cleaning process, we used an alternative method that resolved the issue in just 20 minutes. Here's how we did it: First, we adjusted the clutch free gap to eliminate any unnecessary play. Then, we pressed the clutch pedal all the way to the floor, ensuring that both the master and slave cylinders were in their maximum separation position. After that, we carefully rotated the clutch assembly while spraying gasoline directly onto the clutch plate. This helped dissolve the diesel residue quickly. After a few rotations, the clutch clearance was properly adjusted, and the problem was effectively solved. This method saved us valuable time and allowed the tractor to be back in operation without delay. It’s a practical approach that can be useful in similar situations where quick action is needed.
