Clever clutch slip

In a 654 tractor, a problem occurred due to a leak in the diesel tank sediment cup. As a result, diesel oil seeped from the clutch housing onto the clutch friction plate, causing the clutch to slip when under load. Normally, if you wanted to clean this issue, it would take two or three days. However, during the busy spring plowing season, time was critical. Instead of waiting for a full cleaning process, a quick and effective solution was implemented, resolving the problem in just 20 minutes. The method used was simple but efficient. First, the clutch free gap was eliminated by adjusting the linkage. Then, the clutch pedal was pressed all the way to the floor, ensuring that the master and slave cylinders were fully separated. After that, a small amount of gasoline was sprayed directly onto the clutch disc while slowly rotating the clutch assembly. This helped dissolve and remove the diesel residue quickly. Within a few rotations, the clutch clearance was properly adjusted, and the system was back to normal operation. This approach not only saved valuable time but also avoided unnecessary downtime during a crucial farming period. It demonstrated how a practical and immediate solution can be more effective than traditional methods in certain situations.
