Submerging… and a Guest Post!

After spending what felt like ages navigating the ups and downs of being a "Road-Trip Mommy," I've finally dived headfirst into the exhilarating yet chaotic waters of full-on parenthood. This weekend was particularly immersive—literally and joyfully so. I found myself scrubbing tubs and cleaning toilets alongside my pint-sized sidekick, who was thrilled beyond measure to make everything gleam. I smiled as I sorted through piles of pink 4T leggings and Big Sister tees, folding them with a sense of purpose. Running errands while listening to a solo Christmas playlist blaring from the backseat, I navigated Michigan's icy roads with determination, the crisp winter air adding to the adventure. The little things—the mundane yet magical moments—filled my heart with an ineffable happiness. Plucking candy canes from the tree to watch my little ones' eyes light up as they carefully replaced them was pure magic. These ordinary, everyday moments have become the melody of my days, humming softly but beautifully. Today, I'm embracing this rhythm again, juggling check-ups at the doctor's office, reading stories under the twinkling Christmas tree, and balancing endless piles of laundry with the occasional fort-building session. It's a splashy dance between duty and delight. In the meantime, I wanted to share a special guest post written by my dear friend, Jessica from *It Rocks 2B Mom!* You might remember her from previous posts—I feel incredibly fortunate to call her both a blogging buddy and a real-life friend. Her words always bring a spark of wisdom and warmth. --- ****************************************** *"Do you remember the first time you signed up for MySpace? I thought it was some sort of scam and canceled after just a week. Fast forward six months, and I gave it another shot, marveling at my first 30 friends. Logging in every night to see if anyone had left a message on my wall made me feel like I was part of something bigger. A year later, when the messages dwindled, Facebook entered the scene. At first, I dismissed it as bland and boring, but soon, I had over 100 friends. Then came Bejeweled, and suddenly, I was hooked. For the first time since having my first child, I felt connected again. When my second child arrived in February, I decided to try my hand at blogging. I imagined it would be fun to document our lives, maybe make a few friends, and enjoy some freebies along the way. Spoiler alert: it didn’t quite work out that way. By March, I joined Twitter, convinced I couldn’t possibly say anything meaningful in 140 characters. Yet, before long, I had tweeted over 1,250 times. Who knew? August brought the ultimate distraction—a brand-new iPhone. Suddenly, I couldn’t put my phone down. My son even called me out, “Mom, can you stop with the phone and play with me?” And then, disaster struck—a dead laptop battery left me offline for a whole week. I developed withdrawal symptoms. Clearly, I needed an internet detox. Last week, I read an inspiring piece titled “It’s Time to Live Life Beyond a Laptop” by Eileen Button. She introduced me to the ‘outernet’—the world outside screens, where laughter, conversation, and genuine human connection happen. It’s raw, imperfect, and infinitely rewarding. Don’t get me wrong—I’m not bashing social media or blogging. But during a recent visit from a dear friend, I realized something. While blogs and Facebook keep us updated, they lack the depth of face-to-face interactions. There’s no substitute for the sparkle in someone’s eye or the warmth of a hug. This holiday season, let’s focus on the real stuff—handwritten cards, homemade meals, and family game nights. Let’s turn off our screens and reconnect. After all, what truly matters isn’t the number of likes or followers but the love we share in person. Thank you, Fresh Mommy, for inviting me to guest post here. Your blog has been a source of inspiration for me, and I’m grateful for the friendship we’ve built beyond pixels."* --- ****************************************** Thank you, Jessica, for sharing your heartfelt thoughts with us! Enjoy the festive cheer today. --- IMG_0246 Warm wishes, [Your Name] --- P.S. If you enjoyed this post, don’t forget to share it with others looking to unplug and reconnect!
