Rabbit health management skills

Now is an excellent time for rabbits to grow and reproduce, but the hot weather also brings challenges. As temperatures rise, harmful bacteria and parasites thrive, increasing the risk of poisoning and various gastrointestinal diseases in rabbits. Young and baby rabbits are especially vulnerable, and poor management can lead to a significant rise in mortality. To ensure healthy rabbit farming, it's essential to focus on daily care and implement strict hygiene and disease prevention measures. When feeding green fodder, make sure it is clean and free from foreign objects like strings, plastic films, or other debris. Wash the feed thoroughly, drain excess water, and dry it before offering it to the rabbits. Avoid feeding any unknown or potentially toxic plants. Never give muddy, spoiled, or rain-damp grass, as well as grass that has been sprayed with pesticides. Feed materials should be of high quality, free from sand, mold, and contamination. Store feed in a dry and well-ventilated area, away from moisture, rain, and chemicals such as pesticides or fertilizers. Any feed that shows discoloration or changes in taste should be discarded immediately. Leftover hay must be replaced regularly to maintain cleanliness. Clean and fresh water is crucial for rabbits. The water container should be cleaned daily, and if contaminated by feces or food, it should be changed right away. During hot summer days, adding 1% to 2% salt to the water can help replenish lost minerals and aid in cooling the body. Drinking utensils should also be kept clean and sanitized regularly. The rabbit cages need to be dry, clean, and well-ventilated. In summer, install screens and spray insecticides regularly to control mosquitoes and flies. Rabbit droppings should be removed daily, and the floor can be treated with lime or ash for disinfection and moisture control. During rainy seasons, proper drainage around the cages is essential to prevent waterlogging and mud accumulation. Feeding troughs must remain clean, and leftover food should be removed promptly. Wet mixtures should be prepared and fed immediately to avoid spoilage, which could cause illness in the rabbits. By maintaining these practices, you can significantly improve the health and survival rate of your rabbit population.
