Old and new oils cannot be mixed
During the operation of a tractor, some drivers fail to replace all the used engine oil completely. Instead, they simply add new oil to the remaining old oil and continue using it. They believe this practice helps save on new oil and reduces operating costs. However, this is not a scientific or effective method. In reality, mixing old and new oil doesn't save money—it can actually be harmful. The old oil contains a significant amount of oxidation byproducts, which can accelerate the degradation of the new oil when mixed together. This reduces the effectiveness and lifespan of the new oil.
According to testing, if all the old oil is replaced with new oil at once, a tractor can typically run for about 1500 hours. However, if half of the old oil is mixed with half new oil, the performance drops significantly, and the tractor may only last around 200 hours. Additionally, the degraded lubrication properties of the old oil can lead to increased wear on engine components, excessive black smoke, and other performance issues, which ultimately shorten the tractor's overall service life.
Therefore, when the old oil has reached its expiration date, it is essential to completely drain and replace it with fresh oil. This is not only the correct and effective way to maintain engine health but also a practical method to save on long-term maintenance costs. Proper oil changes ensure optimal engine performance, reduce the risk of breakdowns, and extend the life of the tractor. It's a simple yet crucial step that every driver should take seriously.
