China successfully developed 25W pulsed fiber laser
On November 26, 2007, a significant breakthrough was made in China's laser technology. The Hubei Laser Society, in collaboration with Huagong Technology Industry Group, successfully developed a 25W pulsed fiber laser prototype. This advanced device is capable of creating 10 precise small holes on the tip of a single hair, showcasing its remarkable precision and potential for industrial applications. The next step is to move toward mass production, bringing this innovation closer to real-world use.
Currently, China heavily relies on imported fiber lasers, with most domestic companies functioning as simple integrators of existing systems. The successful development of high-performance fiber lasers marks a major leap forward in core technology, positioning China to compete more effectively on the global stage in high-end precision laser equipment.
According to an official from Huagong Technology Industry Group, during the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period, the annual demand for fiber lasers in China exceeded 5,000 units. With key technological breakthroughs, domestic fiber lasers can now be priced below 60% of their imported counterparts, potentially saving over 400 million yuan in costs annually.
Fiber lasers are at the forefront of modern laser technology, widely used in precision welding, cutting, fine marking, and medical device manufacturing. A 25W fixed laser is as large as an air conditioning unit, while a fiber laser is only the size of a computer server.
