To raise the efficiency of farming

Tuning is the most critical aspect of successful scorpion farming. When farmers purchase scorpion eggs, they must be strict in selecting high-quality cultivars—pure, large, and free from any residual contamination. The population should also be genetically pure to ensure consistency and quality. In China, the Wusuli species is considered ideal for aquaculture due to its excellent exoskeleton, strong market demand, and high recognition. Larger scorpions tend to be more disease-resistant and have higher survival rates. Additionally, it's essential to check that the scorpions' internal organs are intact and normal, especially their reproductive systems. Any signs of hair-eating behavior should be considered a red flag, as this indicates poor health or residual issues, and such scorpions should not be used for breeding. Feeding is another crucial aspect. Some large-scale farmers use commercial feeds, which save time and reduce the risk of improper feeding. However, for beginners, preparing feed manually is still necessary. When selecting ingredients, always use clean, non-moldy corn and high-quality fish meal. During the rearing period, supplementary feeds like small fish, animal organs, and by-products must be fresh. Avoid using frozen or uncertain products, as they may cause adverse reactions and lead to losses. Disease prevention is equally important. If the scorpions have been vaccinated during the early stages, the chances of large-scale disease outbreaks are low. Still, farmers should remain vigilant against common ailments like diarrhea, colds, and loss of appetite. It’s advisable to keep a stock of medications for these conditions and treat affected individuals immediately. Early detection and treatment can prevent serious impacts on the scorpions’ growth and overall productivity. The final stage of scorpion farming is skinning, which is both the most critical and delicate part of the process. Farmers aim to sell their scorpions for maximum profit, but improper handling during skinning can drastically reduce the value of the hides. If the skin is cut improperly or if the scorpions are not fully matured, the resulting hides may be substandard. To avoid this, new farmers are strongly advised to hire professional skinners when the time comes to harvest. Although this may cost some money, it ensures high-quality hides and is ultimately a worthwhile investment. Proper skinning not only protects the farmer’s income but also maintains the integrity of the product in the market.
