The quality of litter management in a chicken house directly affects the production performance of the chicken.
Bad litter hazards: litter is too dry, dust inside the house, chicken respiratory mucosa is susceptible to irritation, leading to mucosal physiological disorders, decreased resistance, prone to respiratory diseases; litter too wet, prone to coccidiosis.
Choice of litter: chicken litter is best used to disinfect the dried planing flowers, because of its good water absorption, can absorb 70% to 80% of the feces of water. The thickness of the bedding is 5 to 10 cm and the humidity is 20% to 30%. The litter in this humidity range can control the sporulation of coccidial oocysts and reduce the incidence of coccidiosis. It is required that the litter be free of foreign materials, smooth, loose, and free of agglomerates.
Litter Management: Dry materials can be littered with chicken spray disinfection, litter and other measures to increase litter moisture; litter is too wet, should enhance ventilation. Turn over frequently to keep the litter flat and loose. Strengthen the management of drinking water systems to prevent water leakage, and the management of litters around and under the drinking fountains should be focused. The moldy litter can be removed and replaced at any time.
