Wuhan exposure illegal advertising Neck Fu Kang Jing Xiu Tang are on the list
In August 2009, the Wuhan Food and Drug Administration released a report on illegal advertisements for drugs, medical devices, and health products. The report highlighted 33 serious violations, which were then forwarded to the industrial and commercial authorities for further investigation. These illegal ads were found to violate regulations by making false or misleading claims about their products.
Several pharmaceutical companies were named in the report. Among them was Qinghai Plant Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., which produced Cordyceps Qingfei Capsules and Shiwei Frankincense Capsules. Another company, Xinjiang Huakang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., was involved with Yin Duolan (Bai Xia Xia Hot Film). Other brands included Qinghai Chaidamu High-tech Medicine’s Zhuoyan Danjiu Lodi Mingmu Pill, Shanxi Tianxing Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.’s tablets, and Chengde Neck Rehabilitation Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd.’s Antshen Capsules. Additional violators included Qinghai Jinqi Tibetan Medicine Co., Ltd., Zhuhai Dashi, and Guangzhou Jingxiutang Pharmaceutical Industry Co., Ltd. Many of these ads were found to exaggerate drug indications, make unscientific efficacy claims, or use patient testimonials and expert endorsements, which are not allowed in regulated advertising.
The violations also extended to medical devices. Shaanxi Aotong Technology Co., Ltd. was cited for its E-mirror (near-vision regression mirror), while Sanmenxia Boke Medical Devices Co., Ltd. was listed for Zhonghua Cong ear sticker and Haike Christie (shaped contact lens). These ads were criticized for overstating product benefits and using misleading descriptions of their effectiveness.
In the health food category, several products were flagged. These included Guyou Jinyu Wanshi granules, Zhinitang propolis (known as beetang royal jelly), Shengshou capsule, Yushengtang intestinal tea, Changjin (Shengsheng Jiubao Capsule), Ant Jintong (Oriental Son Brand Ant Capsule), Qiqipai Beauty Soft Capsule, and Chi Li Tablet. These ads often exaggerated health benefits, used consumer testimonials, and made unverified claims about their effects.
Overall, the key issues included false advertising, misleading health claims, and the use of unauthorized endorsements. These practices not only deceive consumers but also undermine public trust in the healthcare industry. Authorities continue to monitor such activities closely to ensure compliance with advertising regulations and protect consumer interests.
