Qualitative and quantitative analysis of soil samples by J200 laser spectral element analyzer

Foreword

Qualitative and quantitative analysis of chemical elements of matter is the basic analysis and involves many fields of application. Among them, the analysis of soil chemical elements involves soil science, plant nutrition, environmental science and other scientific research fields. With the development of modern technology, analytical methods are constantly improving. The traditional method often needs to acidify the sample, the measurement time is long, it is easy to cause secondary pollution, and the human interference is large. The J200 Laser Spectral Element Analyzer eliminates the need for complex sample preparation such as acid hydrolysis, avoiding errors introduced by sample preparation; measuring only a small number of samples; enabling non-destructive measurement of samples; measuring the three-dimensional distribution of elements. The J200 Laser Spectral Element Analyzer has significant advantages in qualitative and quantitative analysis of samples. In addition, the system can also be used as a front-end injection system in combination with ICP-MS to analyze and detect trace and trace elements. In this study, we used qualitative and quantitative analysis of the chemical elements of rock and soil samples from the J200 266nm laser spectroscopy elemental analyzer.

experimental method
Instrument: J200 Laser Spectral Element Analyzer from Applied Spectrometry

Two soil samples:
- Bentonite
- No soil has been grown in both clay soils.
Experimental environment: no buffer gas, ambient temperature and pressure data were analyzed using the software system comes J200 LIBS system

Analysis result

The J200 laser spectral elemental analyzer quickly scans the LIBS spectrum of the sample. From the spectrum, it can be seen that the main elements in the clay are K, Na, Ca, Fe, Mg, Al, Si, etc.

PCA analysis was performed on the sample to be tested and the standard soil sample, and five samples were selected as the standard samples for this measurement (because the current Australian soil standard is limited, it is impossible to select a very similar standard, which may have quantitative analysis. Certainly, this result is for reference only. It is recommended that the user purchase a soil standard similar to the sample matrix to be tested when measuring). The J200 Laser Spectral Element Analyzer has a multivariate analysis function that provides quantitative analysis of multiple samples and multiple elements in seconds. The results are shown above. It can be seen from the analysis results that the RSD values of the two soil measurements are basically <3, and the results are very good. From the above measurement results, the content of Ca is much higher than that of bentonite.
Limited to the configuration of the J200 used in this test, the measurement of Mn and Sr is for reference only. If attention is paid to trace elements at the same time, it is recommended that the user choose the mass spectrometer system.

to sum up
J200 laser spectroscopy elemental analyzer can be used for rapid qualitative and quantitative analysis of soil samples. The analysis process does not require complex sample pretreatment such as acid hydrolysis. The amount of sample required for measurement is small, and the content of measurement elements is wide. It can be measured from ppm to percentage. Light element. J200 laser spectrum elemental analyzer has great application potential in ecological fields such as soil pollution, air pollution and plant nutrition.
