Laying measures for laying hens
Calcium is an indispensable feed for laying hens. If there is insufficient calcium in the diet, it will directly affect egg production, shell thickness, fertilization rate of eggs, hatching rate of chicks, and serum calcium content.
1, the choice of calcium source feed
The choice of calcium source feed has the best effect with seafood coarse shell powder. The coarse shell powder is crushed into 8 to 12 mesh diameter granules from large shells. It does not contain fine sand, and the calcium content is generally 35% to 37%. It is a high-quality calcium source feed for hens.
2, calcium time
When the hens are conceived, they lay eggs in the morning, and the next egg yolk is discharged from the ovary into the fallopian tube half an hour after the egg is laid. Therefore, the hens do not need to be supplemented with calcium in the morning. By 14 o’clock in the afternoon, as the egg shell deposition rate increases, the amount of calcium consumed by chickens will increase. Therefore, in order to make laying hens produce more eggs and produce good eggs, it is best to supplement the calcium feed for layer hens from 12 to 18 o'clock everyday.
3, the amount of calcium
Egg production requires calcium supplementation, but it is not as good as it is. For a layer of eggs, 4.4 grams of calcium is required for each egg. The calcium content in the diet is 3.0% to 3.5% to meet the production requirements of the layer. If the calcium content in the diet exceeds 4.0%, adverse symptoms will occur: on the one hand, the palatability of the feed will be deteriorated and the feed intake of the chicken will be reduced; on the other hand, the accumulation of urate in the layer will cause indigestion. Cause diarrhea, severe gout symptoms will occur. Therefore, the calcium supplement must pay attention to timely and appropriate amount.
4, calcium method and effect
The calcium source feed can be placed on its own, any chicken can feed freely, and can also be mixed and fed in the feed. According to experiments, calcium source feed has a good effect on improving chicken egg production, egg fertilization rate, chick shelling rate, serum calcium content, and eggshell thickness.
