Xiangyun Golden Dragon Pond Culture Technology
Due to the continuous improvement in living standards, people are now demanding higher quality and better taste from farmed fish. In response, Hunan Xiangyun Biotechnology Co., Ltd. has partnered with Hunan Normal University to develop a new generation of triploid carp varieties. Building upon the original Xiangyunjing, they have introduced three innovative ploidy fish cultivars, including the Xiangyun Golden Carp, along with improved pond systems and culture techniques.
Pond conditions for Xiangyunjinjing are not overly strict. Ponds can range from 3 acres to tens of acres, as long as the water depth is maintained at more than 2 meters. These fish are adaptable and can be raised in single or mixed breeding systems, as well as in cage environments.
There are several main breeding modes:
1. Large-scale fingerling breeding during summer: Approximately 80,000 to 10,000 summer flowers and 100 to 150 white-tailed pheasants can be stocked per acre. By winter, the average weight reaches 100–150 grams, with a yield of 1,000–1,200 kg per mu.
2. Commercial fish breeding during summer: About 2,000–3,000 summer flowers and 100–150 white-tailed pheasants per acre. After feeding until winter, the average weight reaches 0.5 kg, with a yield of 1,000–1,500 kg per mu.
3. Mixed breeding mode: 400 plots of Xiangyun, Jinxi, and Xiahe, combined with 160–180 white storks per mu.
Feeding and management are crucial for Xiangyun Jinluo. The nutritional requirements are moderate. Feed protein levels do not need to exceed those of other carp species. Juveniles require 36–38% protein, while adults need 34–35%. Animal protein should make up at least one-third of the total protein content.
Feeding frequency is typically 2–3 times daily, with each session lasting 1–1.5 hours. Juveniles consume 5–8% of their body weight, while adults take 3–4%.
Daily management involves monitoring water quality, oxygen levels, and feed. Regular patrols in the morning and evening help detect changes early. Maintaining good water quality with sufficient dissolved oxygen (at least 3 mg/L) is essential. Greenish water is ideal.
If water quality deteriorates or fish show signs of distress, adding fresh water or replacing part of the old water is the best emergency measure. Aeration should be used promptly to maintain optimal dissolved oxygen levels throughout the year.
Feeding should be adjusted based on weather and oxygen levels. Feeding 2–3 times a day with 3–4% of the total fish weight ensures efficient use without overfeeding, which can harm water quality and cause fish health issues.
Disease prevention focuses on maintaining clean water, proper aeration, and regular monitoring. Poor water exchange and improper aeration often lead to poor water quality, creating an environment for pathogens. Timely intervention, such as adjusting oxygen levels or managing fish populations, is key to preventing diseases.
Keeping detailed pond records is essential for scientific fish farming. Daily logs should include weather conditions, feeding schedules, fish growth, water levels, and any signs of disease or abnormalities. This helps track progress and identify potential issues early.
