Sweet sorghum use and precautions

The sweet sorghum silage method is similar to the corn silage method. Sweet sorghum can also be directly fed green. However, it must be noted that the green leaves of sweet sorghum contain cyanogenic glycosides. During its growth phase, it is hydrolyzed to produce hazardous substances such as hydrocyanic acid. The consumption of sorghum-rich sorghum which is rich in hydrogen cyanide poses a risk of poisoning. After silage is made from forage sweet sorghum, the toxic components will degrade, so no poisoning will occur. When making hay, care should be taken to avoid cutting and drying in the rain, otherwise it may cause loss of sugar. Feeding with other pastures is beneficial to improve the utilization of nutrients.
