Recently, I learned from Tsinghua University that this low-cost, high-tech "brain pacemaker" was developed by a team of researchers from Tsinghua University in electronics, information, software, materials, manufacturing and other fields.
It is understood that the "brain pacemaker" mainly used for the treatment of Parkinson's disease was first applied to China's clinical practice in 1999, but so far, all kinds of products in the Chinese market have been monopolized by foreign companies, and the price is expensive, generally in the ten Tens of thousands of yuan, and after a few years to spend about 100,000 yuan to replace, greatly limiting this advanced technology to better serve our patients.
In response to the national conditions and the needs of patients, the research team of Tsinghua University has designed a new model of "cerebral pacemaker" for wireless charging or power supply from outside the body, once implanted for life, and greatly saved the cost of patients. Key technical studies of the second generation of implantable neurostimulator platforms have been completed.
Li Luming, director of the Institute of Human Machine and Environmental Engineering at the School of Aerospace and Aeronautics, Tsinghua University, said that the "brain pacemaker" is a crystallization of cross-integration of information, materials, manufacturing and other disciplines from an engineering perspective, representing many high-level engineering fields. The technical achievement is a real engineering research; at the same time, it must meet the medical principles and meet the needs of patients, which is the product of the combination of "medical workers".
