Prevention of fish outbreak hemorrhagic disease

The main measures to prevent fish disease outbreaks include:

1. Enhancing awareness of disease prevention is crucial. Fish diseases often develop quickly, spread easily, last for a long time, and result in high mortality rates and significant economic losses. Once an outbreak occurs, it can be very difficult to control, and the disease may recur easily.

2. Before introducing fish into the pond or tank, it's important to disinfect the seedlings using a 1% to 2% saltwater solution. The soaking time should be adjusted based on the fish species and water temperature. When possible, vaccines can also be used to protect fish from hemorrhagic disease outbreaks.

3. Maintaining good water quality is essential. Regular water changes help keep the environment clean and oxygen-rich. If frequent water changes are not feasible, you can use slaked lime to treat the entire tank and ensure proper aeration with an aerator to maintain healthy conditions.

4. Implementing regular water disinfection and oral medication as a preventive measure is highly effective. Every 10 to 15 days, alternate between disinfectants like dibromohydantoin or bromochlorodimethylhydantoin to clean the water. After five days of disinfection, beneficial microorganisms can be added to improve water quality. In feed, mix safe antibiotics such as berberine hydrochloride or erythromycin for aquatic animals. Administer this treatment for five days, and repeat it once or twice a month for optimal protection.

5. Proper fish stocking and polyculture practices should be followed. Avoid overstocking the water body to prevent stress and reduce the risk of disease transmission. Maintaining a balanced ecosystem helps ensure healthier fish and better overall productivity.

By following these steps, aquaculturists can significantly reduce the chances of disease outbreaks and promote a more sustainable and profitable fish farming operation.
