How to fertilize rice seedlings
The nitrogen content in rice seedlings plays a crucial role in their ability to resist damage. When excessive nitrogen fertilizer is applied, the seedlings become overly lush and green, which actually weakens their resistance to various stresses, including transplanting injury. Compared to manually transplanted seedlings, mechanically transplanted ones tend to experience more damage during the process due to physical stress and handling. Therefore, it's important to optimize the nutrient management of transplanting seedlings by increasing carbonitriding (a process that enhances root development and resilience) while reducing the amount of nitrogen fertilizer. This approach helps improve the overall health and resistance of the seedlings. In general, soils with high fertility do not require additional nitrogen fertilization. However, for fertile soils, a basal application of 7.5 kg per mu is recommended to support early growth without overloading the plants with nitrogen. By carefully managing nutrients, farmers can ensure stronger, more resilient rice seedlings that are better prepared for transplanting and environmental challenges.
