Ginger spot disease prevention

Spot disease is one of the main diseases of ginger, commonly known as "white star disease." The main damage to the leaves, the diseased leaves appear yellow-white oval or irregular shaped lesions, the middle grey edge brown, size 2 to 5 mm. When the wet spot grows scattered small black spots, the diseased part is cracked or perforated when dry, and if many spots are connected, some or all of the leaves may dry up.

Ginger spot disease is caused by fungal infection, and initial infestation is carried out by weather and insect spread. The temperature of 24°C~28°C and heavy rain and wet weather are heavy, the field canopy density is large, and the permeability is poor. Continuous cropping plots, low topography, heavy soil quality, or excessive nitrogen fertilizer are all conducive to disease.

Ginger spot can be controlled by the following methods:

1. Cultivating microbial fertilizers, supplementing beneficial bacteria in the soil, restoring the balance of soil microbial flora, and improving soil aggregate structure.

2. In the early stage of disease, 75% chlorothalonil WP 800 to 1000 times or 30% oxychloride copper sulphate 300 to 400 times can be sprayed, and sprayed once every 7 to 8 days for 3 consecutive times. Focused sprays on pathogenic centers with more severe disease.
