RO reverse osmosis membrane cleaning scheme is divided into physical method and chemical method, both methods can effectively clean the membrane:

Physical method: This method uses mechanical force to remove contaminants from the membrane surface. No chemical reactions take place throughout the cleaning process.

1 , manual scrubbing

This method is a relatively primitive but effective method. The mother's method is to gently wipe the flat membrane with a soft substance ( such as a sponge ) to wipe the dirt on the membrane surface, and rinse it off with water. This method can effectively remove a large amount of dirt on the surface of the membrane. But there is nothing to do with the finer impurities in the pores of the membrane.

2 , isobaric hydraulic flushing method

Ultrafiltration components of any configuration can be used for membrane cleaning using this method. The specific method is to close the water production valve, open the concentrated water outlet valve, and rinse the surface of the membrane with an increased flow rate, which is effective for removing a large amount of soft impurities on the surface of the membrane. The effect of isostatic flushing is also related to the frequency of continuous flushing.

3 , backwashing method

The backwashing method is a method of rinsing from the back surface ( porous support layer ) of the film to the front side ( dense layer ) . This is an effective cleaning method. After the membrane is backwashed, the isostatic hydraulic flushing method is performed, and the cleaning effect is very obvious.

4 , hot water washing method

Rinsing the surface of the membrane with heated water (30 to 40~C ) removes the viscous and hot-soluble impurities ( such as sugars ) .

5 , water-gas mixed cleaning method

The purified compressed air is sent to the ultrafiltration unit along with the water, and the water-air mixed fluid generates a vigorous agitation action on the membrane surface to remove relatively stubborn impurities. The effect is also better.

Chemical method : The chemical membrane is used to chemically react with the filter cake on the membrane surface to achieve the purpose of cleaning the membrane. The principle of selecting chemicals when cleaning reverse osmosis membranes: First, it cannot produce any chemical reaction with membranes and other component materials, and second, it cannot cause secondary pollution due to the use of chemicals. When using chemical cleaning methods, it is often combined with isostatic rinsing and back rinsing to more effectively remove contaminants from the membrane surface.
