Feeding livestock to prevent disease

Improper use of forages can also lead to diseases, and severe cases can cause death. The more common are grassy rickets and bloated diseases. Production should pay attention to doing a good job of prevention. After discovering that the animal is ill, we must promptly adopt appropriate treatment measures.

I. Grasshopper disease

Excessive feeding of grass rakes can cause grass rot. Grass hibiscus is a high-quality forage grass with high yield, rich nutrition and more protein. However, there are two kinds of toxic substances in the grass lice: coumarin, dicoumarol. The content of coumarin in white flowers and grasses is 0.84-1.22% of dry matter, 1.05-1.40% of yellow hibiscus, and grassy hibiscus. Coumarin content increased. The main harm of these two toxins is to fight against vitamin K, inhibit the formation of hepatic thrombin, cause internal organs to bleed, and if there is a trauma, it will bleed.

Treatment: (1) intravenous injection of vitamin K3, horses, cattle 100-300 mg each time, pigs, sheep 30-50 mg each time. (2) Intramuscular injection of Xin Ning Ling (Diacetoxyacetic acid ethylenediamine), horses, cattle 10-20 ml each time, pigs, sheep 2-10 ml each time.

Preventive measures: (1) Feeding fresh grasses or hay by using grass toads should be properly limited; if grazing is used, the animals can feed a small amount of grass to reach other grasslands in time. (2) When pigs are fed with grass hay, it is best to crush them first and then soak them in fresh water for a day and night. This method can remove 84% of coumarin and 41% of dicoumarine.

Second, swelling disease

When ruminants are grazing on the pastures of leguminous pastures (eg, alfalfa, milk vetch, clover, etc.), if they are not restricted, they are prone to expansive disease. Legumes contain large amounts of soluble protein and saponin, which can form persistent foam in the rumen of ruminants, block the fontanelles, impede hernias, rapidly increase rumen pressure, and impede blood circulation and respiration. Symptoms often appear 15 minutes after eating. The animal's abdomen swells, the pain is restless, and it swiftly rises from an urgency. Severe people die quickly.

Treatment methods: (1) Found that the abdominal swelling of livestock after eating legume grass should be immediately inserted into the gastroduodenal deflation, or using a 16-18 closed needle to puncture the rumen deflation, this method can only partially alleviate the symptoms. (2) The best method is to use defoamer to eliminate foam and promote gas elimination. Can be fed with vegetable oil (such as soybean oil, peanut oil, cottonseed oil, etc.) 250 ml; 30-60 ml of irrigated or rumen-injected turpentine oil; 10-15 g of gutta percha, 20-30 ml of turpentine, 30-40 ml of alcohol, mixed and fed .

Preventive measures: (1) Young legume forages should be dried and fed with common hay to feed livestock. Grazing on the legume grass should be done not more than 20 minutes at a time and not more than 1 hour per day. (2) Try not to grazing on legumes and pastures that contain moisture or dew.
