In this process, if the water supply is too low, the internal physiological activities of the seeds cannot be met, germination is not performed normally, and even the phenomenon of “buds dry” occurs; if water is too much, the seeds will reach supersaturation, and the seed coat will have poor air permeability, affecting the oxygen supply. Can cause bad species.

The watermelon mainly consumes the nutrients stored in the seeds during germination, so the absolute weight of the seeds (saturation) and the shelf life of the seeds have important effects on the germination rate and the quality of the shoots. The viability of watermelon seed decreases with the increase of seed storage time. Although the seed use period is 5 to 7 years, the seed germination rate is high and the germination potential is neat with 1 to 3 years.

The length of watermelon germination depends on the temperature of the ground: high temperature and rapid germination, low temperature and low germination. Ground temperature between l5 ~ 20 °C, germination requires 7 ~ l3 days; ground temperature 25 ~ 30 °C, then 3 to 4 days to emerge. In early spring, during the low temperature season watermelon seedlings, we must listen to and see the weather forecast, ensure that there are 6 to 7 sunny days after sowing, and tighten the temperature of the shed film; when using cold weather, rain, snow, fog, and other bad weather, we must use fire paths and grounds. Heating devices such as hot-wires and hot-blast stoves increase the temperature of the ground so as not to affect seedlings due to long-term low temperature and high humidity.
